Five Fuel Saving Tips:
- Avoid Short Distance Driving
A cold engine is not very efective. So the the fuel consumption is very high on the first miles. So if your destination is not to far away you should think about walking or biking. Both is good for your health and you will save a lot of fuel and money. And before you drive anywhere, always ask yourself: "Is this trip really necessary?" - Start your Car when you are ready to go
Most cars don't need to be "warmed up" by engine idling before setting off. This just wastes fuel and your money. - Driving at a constant Speed
Stop-and-Start driving is very inefficient and more polluting than driving at a constant speed. If you accelerate to speed then have to brake right away, that's wasted fuel. - Don't Speed
Fuel consumption increases significantly over about 56 mph. At 70 mph your car uses up to 25 per cent more fuel than it would cruising at 56 mph. - Use airconditioning sparingly
At lower speeds you'll save fuel if you just open the window and shut off the airconditioner. Remember: Airconditioners can use about 10 per cent extra fuel when operating!
